BATES
Amanda GROSSMAN, daughter of Jacob
G. GROSSMAN and Hannah MILLER, was born 19 Dec
1859 in PA, probably Butler County. She married ? BATES
in the 1870's. When her father left his family and moved to TX in 1876, Amanda
went along. (It has not been determined if she married in PA or TX.) Amanda and
husband have not been located in the 1880 census. By 1900, Amanda was living in
Bonham, Fannin Co., TX, identified as a widow.
Amanda and ? BATES had five children:
Edna (Sep 1879-?) m. Walter
WARREN. Based on her mother's obituary, she resided in DeQueen, AR, in
1935.
James E. (18 Jul 1889-20 Oct 1918) m. Mary
Edna HUNT in Fannin Co. 16 Jan 1910. He and his wife died on the same day
(accident?) and are buried in Willow Wild Cemetery.
Maggie (Jun 1892-?) m. G.J.
JUSTICE 28 Aug 1908 in Fannin Co. She lived in Sherman, TX, in 1935.
Richard E. (Nov 1894-?) m. Belle
GRIFFIN 10 May 1919 in Fannin Co. He lived in Sherman, TX, in 1935.
Lorene J. (Apr 1897-?) m. Frank
SIMPSON. No marriage record has been located in Fannin or Grayson Cos.
Oct 1909 through Nov 1922. She lived in Sherman, TX, in 1935.
Amanda died 18 Mar 1935 in Grayson Co., TX, and was buried 20 Mar 1935 in Willow
Wild Cemetery.
