PRESTON
Samuel John PRESTON was born 6 Jul 1836 in Ireland. His parents are identified as Samuel John PRESTON and Sarah IRWIN on his death certificate, but no other documentation of his parentage has been located. He immigrated to the United States between 1852-1854. He has not been located in the 1860 census.
In 1861 he married Mary Ann (Polly Ann) BLACK, daughter of James BLACK and Sarah KELLY. He worked as a laborer in PA and also in Sisterville, WV. Samuel and Polly Ann had seven children:
James Archibald (1862-11 Sep 1885) m. Laura PHILLIPS 6 Aug 1882. His death was the result of a long illness, and he was buried in the United Presbyterian Cemetery in Parker City, Armstrong Co., PA.
Sarah Jane (16 Nov 1867-11 Jan 1929) m. Samuel Leopold MOYER 16 Sep 1886. They are buried in Parker Cemetery.
Thomas Braden (17 Apr 1868-18 Sep 1939) m. Ida Anna PALMER. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Leechburg, Armstrong, PA.
Margaret Christina (7 Aug 1870-15 Mar 1949) m. Ulysses Moore BLACK 25 Dec 1894. They are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Parker, Armstrong, PA.
Olive Elizabeth (13 Oct 1872-4 Apr 1955) m. Leo COAD 29 Apr 1902. She died and is buried in Tioga Center, NY.
Mary Florence (1878-1902) m. David L. TERWILLIGER 8 Feb 1896.
Ida Pearl (25 Dec 1880-6 Mar 1963) had four children before her marriage to Wesley Rayburn WALTERS. She is buried at Forks Church Cemetery in Gilpin Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
After Polly Ann's death in 1910 in Leechburg, Samuel lived on until 1922 when he died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Moore BLACK in Leechburg. Samuel and Polly Ann are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Parkers Landing.
